Having your short film selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick is a distinction on par with any major film festival. This badge of honor has propelled many an amateur filmmaker into stardom. To celebrate ten years of Staff Picks at SXSW, created The Decade, a fully immersive theatre experience dedicated to 100 of the most iconic Vimeo Staff Picked films. From a custom marquee to moving film posters and themed concessions, we left no detail untouched as we paid homage to creators and their creations. In addition to setting up the space to screen 100+ short films, we transformed nine rooms into experiential theaters bringing favorites like “Hi Stranger” and “Marcel the Shell” to life. Then, if that wasn’t enough, we hosted a series of panels with some of Vimeo’s most iconic filmmakers.
TL;DR: I smelled Jim Carrey’s shoes.
